Privacy Policy

AI Monitor ("the Service") tracks how much you use AI coding tools such as Claude Code, and what that usage costs. This policy explains exactly what we store, who we share it with, and how to get rid of it. It is written to match what the software actually does.

Who we are

The Service is operated by AshLabs ("we"). For any privacy question, or to exercise any right described below, contact [email protected].

What we collect

We collect and store the following:

  • Account data — your email address, display name, a hashed password (only if you sign up with email; never stored in plain text), an optional avatar URL, and account timestamps.
  • Authentication data — sessions, refresh tokens, email verification tokens, and short-lived codes used to pair a desktop or mobile device.
  • Provider connections — which AI providers you have connected and their connection status. Any provider credentials are stored encrypted at rest.
  • Usage and cost data — aggregated request counts, token counts, model identifiers, estimated costs, session start/end times, daily activity totals, and derived insights (for example, what share of your usage happened in long sessions or at high context).
  • App content you create — projects, alert rules, and notifications.
  • Leaderboard data (opt-in only) — if you opt in, your chosen handle and country. See the dedicated section below.
  • Security and audit logs — a record of significant account actions, which includes the IP address the action came from.

What we deliberately do not collect

We do not collect your source code, the contents of your files, or the text of your prompts or the AI's responses. The Service reads usage totals from your AI tools, not the substance of what you asked them or what they produced.

Our use of AI

The Service does not run your data through any AI model to generate profiles, recommendations, or automated decisions about you, and it contains no AI chatbot.

There is one AI-related network call: to read your current rate-limit status, the Service makes a minimal request to Anthropic's API using your own Claude credentials and reads the rate-limit headers on the response. This exists solely to obtain your remaining quota. Your data is not used to train any AI model, by us or by anyone else.

Who we share data with

We do not sell your data, and we do not serve advertising. We share data only with the service providers required to run the Service:

  • Google Cloud Platform — hosts our backend server and database. All stored data described above resides there.
  • Cloudflare — serves this website and its assets; processes request metadata such as IP address in the course of delivering pages.
  • GitHub — only if you choose to sign in with GitHub, in which case GitHub tells us your email address and basic profile information.
  • Anthropic — receives the rate-limit request described above, authenticated with your own credentials.
  • Google Play — distributes the Android and Wear OS apps, and receives installation data governed by Google's own policies.

We may also disclose data where we are legally required to, or to protect the security of the Service.

Analytics and telemetry

We do not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or session-recording tool. There is no Google Analytics, no advertising SDK, and no behavioural tracking across other sites. Settings contains an "anonymous diagnostics" preference which is off by default; it is currently a stored preference only, and no diagnostics are transmitted anywhere. If that ever changes, this policy will be updated before it does.

Cookies

We use cookies strictly to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

The public leaderboard

The leaderboard is off unless you turn it on. While it is on, your chosen handle, your country, and your aggregate usage and cost totals are visible publicly, including to people who are not signed in. Your email address, real name, and account identifiers are never published. Turning the leaderboard off in Settings removes you from all public leaderboard views, including historical ones.

How long we keep data

We keep your data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your account record and the data linked to it — connections, usage records, projects, alerts, notifications, sessions, and badges — are permanently deleted from our database, not merely hidden or flagged. Backups are rotated on a rolling basis and any residual copies age out with them. Audit log entries may be retained for security purposes with the account link removed.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict its processing. You can exercise the main ones directly in the app at any time, without contacting us:

  • Export your data from Settings.
  • Disconnect any provider from Settings.
  • Delete all stored usage data while keeping your account, from Settings.
  • Delete your account and all associated data, from Settings.
  • Turn the public leaderboard on or off, from Settings.

For anything else, email [email protected]. If you are in the UK or EU and are unhappy with our response, you may complain to your local data protection authority.

International transfers

Our infrastructure and service providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, such transfers rely on the safeguards offered by those providers.

Children

The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

Passwords are hashed, provider credentials are encrypted at rest, and all traffic is served over HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure, but we aim to hold only what the Service genuinely needs.

Changes to this policy

If we make a material change, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where the change significantly affects your rights, notify you in the app.
